This is a myth about our language, on how and why we have so many languages that existing in the whole world.

 

The Bible said, that once upon a time the world has only one language.

 

But because of man's plan to build a tower that reaches the sky, God distruct them by giving them different kinds of languages and they were scattered all over the face of the earth.

 

 

This is the story about the tower of Babel

 

In Genesis 11:1 - 9, the story of Babel was told.

 

It was built in the land of shinar.

 

In this story, it says about the existence of diverse human languages.

 

The Babylonians wanted to make a name for themselves by building a mighty city and a tower that will reach the heavens.

 

Genesis 11

 

1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speach

 

2 As people moved east ward, they found a plain in shinar and settled there

 

3 They said to each other, come, lets make bricks ( c ) and bake them thoroughly." They used bricks instead of stone and tar for mortar

 

4 Then they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves, other wise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.

 

5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building

 

6 The Lord said, if as one speaking the same languages they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them

 

7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other

 

8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city

 

9 That's why it was called Babel because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world from there, the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth

 

And this is the story of the tower of Babel and the myth of our different languages.

 

The Bible says about the reason why there is so many languages that exist on Earth.
